What is Paternity? What are Father's rights?
Simply put, paternity establishes a legal father for a child.
Paternity is presumed if:
1. The child's parents were married at the time of the child's birth
2. The child is born less than 300 days after the parents marriage was dissolved.
In all other cases, it is necessary to establish paternity in order to give the child a legal father.

Indiana Code 31-14-4-1 provides that Mother, expectant Mother, Father, Expectant Father, Child, Mother and Father together and certain governmental agencies can file for a Paternity action.
